Data Engineer

In the role of Data Engineer, you’ll be the driving force behind the development and management of ETL scripts and metadata within a dynamic data warehouse environment. You’ll be a valuable member of a driven scrum team working together to realise high-quality data integration solutions. And every day at work, you'll be doing your part for all the charities we support.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll have a passion for developing ETL solutions and extensive experience in creating efficient, reliable ETL scripts, with technical knowledge of AWS and data pipelines in GitLab.
  • With an eye for detail, you’ll make sure data from various sources is loaded smoothly into the data warehouse, while closely monitoring quality.
  • In addition to your development work, you’ll proactively think about improvements within the data warehouse. You’ll be a creative thinker and have the ability to identify optimisation opportunities.
  • Together with the team, you’ll work on implementing new functionalities with the aim of improving the performance and scalability of the data warehouse.
  • As a Data Engineer you’ll also be responsible for assessing the software developed. You’ll use your extensive knowledge of SQL and complex data structures to evaluate the results and ensure that the software meets the required functionality and quality standards.

You’d describe yourself as follows:

  • You work and think at college/university level in computer science or a similar field and have relevant work experience in a commercial online environment.
  • Have experience in developing ETL scripts, with expertise in SQL and complex data structures.
  • Understand data warehouse concepts and architectures.
  • You have at least three years experience in a similar role.
  • Have team spirit, enjoy working with colleagues, are proactive, and have good communication skills.
  • A monthly salary indication between €4.800,- and €5.700,- based on a 40-hour week and flexible working hours.

Meet the team

The Group Tech department is the backbone of the Postcode Lottery Group. Working here, you’ll be part of the team that bears responsibility for all IT operations, ensuring all lottery rounds run smoothly, developing and managing the necessary systems, and setting up and maintaining digital workstations for more than 600 employees. You’ll collaborate with all the lotteries’ departments and with external parties. You'll stay in close touch with colleagues at the Postcode Lotteries abroad, working with them to create the best IT solutions.
