Head of Human Resources

Senior Cloud Engineer

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you'll combine advanced technical expertise with leadership skills to design, build, and operate secure, high-performance cloud infrastructure within a dynamic, 24×7 production environment. You'll set the technical bar for everything-as-code, drive resilience and observability, and mentor the engineers around you — ensuring technical excellence as we scale and launch new markets. Every day, your work will directly support millions of euros raised for charitable causes, creating a meaningful global impact. And every day at work, you’ll be doing your part for all the charities we support.

As Senior Cloud Engineer, you’ll:

  • Design, build, and operate secure, resilient cloud infrastructure on AWS — owning solutions end-to-end, from design through to long-term production operation.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks, optimizing performance and reliability, and reducing Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR) across 24×7 production.
  • Set the technical bar for "everything-as-code" — Terraform, CI/CD, compliance- and runbooks-as-code — so change is safe, reviewable, and repeatable, writing infrastructure-as-code that serves as a reference for other engineers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of excellence and setting best practices through reviews, pairing, and clear standards.
  • Lead incident response and on-call for platform-owned services — running incidents calmly, preparing and testing runbooks, and turning each one into a lasting improvement.
  • Partner with Architecture, Security, Development, and Operations to agree guardrails, set and protect SLOs, and deliver supportable, day-2-ready solutions.
  • Help shape the technical roadmap, aligning cloud engineering priorities with the business and strengthening operational readiness ahead of new market launches.

You’d describe yourself as follows:

  • You hold a university degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with at least 6+ years of experience in cloud or platform engineering.
  • You've owned solutions end-to-end — designing, building, operating, and maintaining them in production over time — not only contributing to systems others architected.
  • You have expertise in AWS (containers/ECS, IAM, VPC/networking, load balancing, CloudWatch) and expert-level Terraform and infrastructure-as-code.
  • You have a strong understanding of cloud networking, DNS, disaster recovery, and the AWS Well-Architected principles, applied to large-scale, resilient systems.
  • You're experienced with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab) and bring real-world incident and on-call experience in 24×7 production — calm under pressure, debugging complex issues at speed.
  • You're a proactive problem-solver who excels at leading and mentoring engineers, and are comfortable driving technical decisions in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • You communicate fluently in English and thrive in an international environment, bringing pragmatic solutions. (Dutch is a strong plus.)
  • A monthly salary indication between €5.500,- and €7.200,- based on a 40-hour week and flexible working hours.
